Danville

Danville is located in east central Illinois in Vermilion County (of which it is the county seat) about 35 miles east of Champaign along Interstate 74 on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Vermilion River.

The Greater Danville area is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts featuring Kickapoo State Park, Kennukuk County Park, Forest Glen Preserve, Lake Vermilion and 2,700-acre Middle Fork SFWA. 17.4 miles of the Middle Fork is the only such section designated "scenic river" in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.

Educational opportunities include Lakeview College of Nursing and Danville Area Community College.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 31,761, a decrease of 2,067 since 1990.

Redbud Trail Rendezvous Rochester IN April27-28 See living history of frontier Midwest America, historic camps, music and dance of the period, traditional crafts, food cooked over wood fires, blanket trading, tomahawk and muzzle-loading shooting contests. The village has 40 wooden booths, traditional crafts, blanket trading and muzzle loading shooting matches.
Lotus World Music and Arts Festival Bloomington IN May10 The annual Lotus World Music and Arts Festival celebrates the diversity, beauty, and joy of music and arts from cultures around the world.
Peoria Heights Art Fair Peoria Heights IL May11 A great weekend is planned; the show coincides with the Race for the Cure and the Illinois Art League members show at the Village Hall. A hospitality tent will be open throughout the Art Fair with coffee and donuts in the morning and water and fruit during the day .
Summer Camp Music Festival Chillicothe IL May24-26 The first Summer Camp Music Festival was held in 2001 at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL. About 1,000 attended the festival that year, and enjoyed over 20 bands on 2 stages over the course of 2 days. Since then, Summer Camp Music Festival has grown to more than 15,000 attendees, hosting more than 100 bands on 7 stages over 3 days.
Mentone Egg Festival Mentone IN May30-June1 The three-day event features entertainment, games, food, a parade in the downtown area, a play area for kids, and a huge car, truck, motorcycle and tractor show. All entertainment events are free. Flea markets and crafters line the main street in our downtown.
